Himoinsa targets hire

The Spanish generator manufacturer has just established a UK operation. Alan Guthrie reports from Crewe.

Some hirers will already know of the Spanish generator manufacturer, Himoinsa SL, but the global company is now raising its profile here considerably, with the recent opening of a wholly owned subsidiary, Himoinsa Power

Solutions Ltd, in Crewe, and having taken a stand at the Executive Hire Show.

As we reported in September, the operation is headed

by MD Clive Dix, formerly a Director of SDMO Energy. “Himoinsa manufactures for a number of well-known suppliers” he told EHN, “and hirers may also be aware of its products through Himoinsa’s key distributor MacGen Power Generation (also exhibiting, on Stand C100) of Coleraine, which will continue to distribute and support current customers.

“Himoinsa itself was founded in 1982, principally to serve the Spanish and Italian markets, but is has steadily expanded, with additional factories in China, France, India, Brazil and the US, and now believes the time is right to develop the UK market. Sales Director Steve Sutton, whose previous industry experience includes working with Belle Group, Ingersoll Rand and MacGen, was appointed a year ago to make contact with potential customers, particularly hirers, and listen to what they wanted, which we can now provide.”

Centrally located, the Crewe facility covers 11,000ft2 of office and storage space, with a 16,000ft2

yard. Himoinsa Power Solutions will

stock a full range of machines for quick supply, from 10-1250kVA, together with spares backup. Overall, however, Himoinsa can supply generators from 3-3000kVA, to meet virtually any requirement. The standard colour for UK machines will be light grey, although corporate liveries can also be accommodated. “We also realise that, just as important as the equipment, is service excellence,” said Clive. “We aim to be easy to deal with, and we are investing in our customers by establishing a training centre at Crewe, where hirers can send their own staff, and those of their customers.”

Products are divided into three main categories. Industrial generators are for fixed installations; Rental specification models are self- explanatory, and include Stage 3a compliant machines; and the Pro Rental line-up meets specific applications such as the petrochemicals market, which may require spark arrestors, Chalwyn valves and other additions. “The choice is vast. We offer no fewer than 27 Stage 3a compliant models, with different configurations and engine options including Yanmar, Iveco, Scania and MTU, to meet user preferences.”

A new addition to the line-up is the Power Cube HPWC-640, a 500kW generator housed within a 10ft container and incorporating a special cooling system for optimum performance. Its compact footprint makes it unobtrusive at events and for use in confined spaces, and up to 32 units can be connected in parallel if required. “Linking two together obviously gives the same power capability as a 1mW containerised unit at a reasonable cost, which can attract competitive hire rates and provide a reduced carbon footprint. Also, the Power Cube’s modular flexibility avoids the potential risk for a hirer in buying a larger, single 20ft unit for a special project, only to subsequently see it lying in the yard unused.”

A Power Cube will be displayed outside the Ricoh Arena South entrance. On its stand inside, Himoinsa will show various models, including 20kVA and 100kVA sets. “We have invited all our potential customers to the Show and we are really excited about seeing them there,” said Clive. “The market is busy, and we see particular growth amongst small to medium hirers, as many are looking to refresh their fleets as the recovery now gathers momentum. As well as construction and events, markets driving demand include site security, welfare and mobile working requirements, and meeting backup power capabilities stipulated by insurance companies for sites such as data centres, so we will have a lot to talk about with hirers on our stand, as well as some very special Show-only deals.”

The new Power Cube will be displayed at the Show. • 01270 536940 www.himoinsa.com
