LEDs

shows no signs of slowing, and a number of companies are showing their dedication to the technology by investing in LED showrooms. One such company is Infinite LED, and Managing Director Sam Tilley believes there is still considerable scope for development with LED technology. “LED’s are replacing all forms of lighting, and not only as bulb replacements but as whole light fittings, doing away with the need for a traditional bulb,” he explains. “Recently we have been working with companies to replace not only their office lighting with LED light panels, but also replacing traditional fluorescent tube fittings with a sleek light fitting replacement which does away with the bulbs completely and so is easier to clean, longer lasting and has a lower price, with a better light and a wider angle of light.”
The development of LEDs for use in a wider range of applications is leading to a number of highly respected names in the industry focusing on fully LED projects. Anglo-German lighting company WILA have recognised that the scope for LED products in the UK market is growing, and in response to

this trend the company has produced its first ever completely LED catalogue, which features more than 2,000 products in its range. Commenting on the rapid growth, Mike Collett, WILA’s CEO, explained; “The LED story continues apace. A few years ago we really only saw LED used as a decorative light source. Now we have a whole range of this light technology with a product to suit every requirement of the discerning lighting professional.” This investment in LED technology stands out as a clear message that LED is here to stay; “LED was the disruptive technology just a few short years ago – now we are reaching the tipping point where it is becoming the product of choice for lighting designers,” concludes Collett.
