Online machine IP65 operator panel with CANopen interface monitoring
The latest Sentry G3 systems from Sensonics encompass vibration, posi- tion and speed measurements - the hardware fault tolerance of which has re- cently been independently verified. The four channel G3 module has been designed with an independent digital signal processor (DSP) for each channel of measurement. The DSP can be loaded with the specific measurement algorithm which not only controls the sensor selection but also the protection relay status and analogue output levels. This provides complete hardware autonomy from sensor through to the protection relay combined with high channel density (24 channels in a 3U format).
The rack based system operates on a dual +24V power supply backplane which can be connected externally or derived from the optional G3 dual redundant rack based power supplies. When a high integrity protection function is required, the IEC61508 international standard for functional safety can be applied to ensure that sufficient integrity is designed into the electrical/ electronic systems employed for the safety function. Baldor Electric has introduced a compact IP65-rated operator panel with a CANopen interface which provides a cost-effective means of implementing simple HMIs. A scalable control solu- tion, an optional plug-in digital I/O module facilitates simple system expansion.
A backlit 4-line x 20-character LCD surrounded by six program- mable function keys enables unambiguous and actionable multiple-choice menus to be pre- sented to the machine operator. A further 15 keys are provided for the input of numeric values,
together with four pairs of keys which can be used for functions such as jogging individual machine axes.
Easy to fit and set up, the panel
simply requiries a rectangular cut-out in the facia; built-in mounting clamps secure the unit by compressing its bezel gasket against the surrounding facia. The only connections that are needed are a 24 Vdc power feed and the desired communications link. Compulogic has released the SPi-4 1/8 DIN process meter featuring an on-board web server providing ease of config- uration in addition to email alerts and full remote access via
the integral Ethernet interface. Meter readings can be viewed remotely via a web browser while email alerts can be gener- ated when readings exceed user programmed thresholds.
Both XML and SNMP are supported allowing configura- tion and remote read- ing using SNMP based network management systems. The sensor input is configurable for any range from 0-32mA or 0-10V eg 4-20mA, 0-20mA, 9-
15mA, 5-8V. Any given input range may be programmed to display a corresponding user unit range from -9999 to +9999, direct or reverse acting and with automatic and floating decimal point.
A front panel push button enables the value displayed on the large LED display to be selectable between transducer input value, user units value, minimum value, maximum value or % full scale. Compulogic T: 01788 510573

The Anly H7E from Switchtec offers users valuable monitoring facilities in control panels and other equipment where lapsed time or events have to be recorded. The H7E-C is an 8-digit totalising counter and the H7E-T is a 7-digit timer counter. The H7E-C has the option for standard (30Hz nominal) counting and using a built in DIP switch can be converted to high speed 1kHz counting - up to 999,999,999. The H7E-T hours run counter display can be switched between hours and minutes or hours, minutes and seconds, again via the built-in DIP switch. It can count up to 9999h 59.9m or 999h 59m 59s. Both units are powered from an internal 3V DC battery that in the case of the H7E- C has a long life of seven years, increas- ing to 10 for the H7E-T. An optional 24V AC/DC can be supplied to the timers if a backlit facility is required in a poorly lit application. Built-in reset facilities can be effected either at the front of the panel or
remotely using the terminals at the back of the counter. The front reset can be disabled using the selector switch, thus preventing false resets.
When mounted in a panel, a rubber seal- ing gasket ensures that an IP65 degree of protection is achieved.A maximum relative operating humidity of 85% is specified. Switchtec T: 01785 818600
