RFK Stadiumhas been


selected to host two quarterfinal matches in the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup, the regional championship for national teams fromNorth and Central America and the Caribbean. Thematches inWashington


will take place as a doubleheader on June 19, a Sunday. No other games in the 12-nation, biennial tournament will be played at RFK.Mexico is the defending champion. The 2011 winner will earn a berth in the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil. In 2009, a first- round doubleheader was held in Washington, including a 2-0 U.S. victory overHonduras. Gold Cup participants in 2011 are the United States,Mexico,


Canada, Jamaica, Cuba, Grenada, Guadeloupe and five Central American teams to be determined nextmonth. First-round sites are Cowboys


Stadium(Arlington, Tex.), which will host the June 5 openers; Home Depot Center (Carson, Calif.), Ford Field (Detroit), Bank of America Stadium(Charlotte), FIU Stadium(Miami), Raymond James Stadium(Tampa), Soldier Field (Chicago), Red Bull Arena (Harrison, N.J.) and KC Soccer Stadium(Kansas City, Kan.). The groups and first-roundmatches will be determined in early February. Washington and the New


Meadowlands Stadiumin New Jersey will host the quarterfinal doubleheaders. Both semifinals will be played at Reliant StadiuminHouston and the championship is set for the Rose Bowl on June 25.
