WASHINGTON, 5:48 Graham Gano kicks a 27-yard field goal to cap a 5-play, 2:11 drive. The Redskins opened the game mostly through

the air. DonovanMcNabb threwon six of the drive’s eight plays and completed all six for 55 yards. McNabb foundMike Sellers for 22 yards and SantanaMoss for 13. With a first down at the 24- yard line, the Redskins stalled and settled for a 41- yard field goal by Graham Gano. Houston returner Steve Slaton inexplicably

fielded Gano’s kickoff at the 1-yard line before stepping out of bounds.Matt Schaub found Kevin Walter for 24 yards on the first play, but two plays later, Carlos Rogers stepped in front of a pass for an interception—Rogers’s first since December 2008. The Redskins drove again beforeMcNabb threw

his first incompletion, on third down. Gano’s 27- yard field goal increased the lead to 6-0. Houston started its second possession on its 23-

yard line. A mix of Arian Foster and Andre Johnson brought the ball to the Redskins 5, where the Texans had first and goal at quarter’s end.

WASHINGTON, 1:20 Clinton Portis ends a 59-second drive with another 1-yard TD run.

It took one play forHouston to take the lead in the second quarter. Schaub found wide receiver Jacoby Jones in the front corner of the end zone for a five- yard touchdown pass. The score capped an 11-play, 77-yard drive that took 5 minutes 52 seconds. The Redskins responded immediately. Wide receiver Joey Galloway, 38, made his first catch for Washington, beating rookie Kareem Jackson down the middle of the field for a 62-yard reception—his longest since 2007. Two plays later, McNabb found Moss for 10 yards to set up a first and goal from the 1. Sellers’s diving attempt on first down was short, but Clinton Portis punched it in on the next play to give the Redskins a 13-7 lead with 12:29 left. Later in the quarter, the Redskins took over after a missed field goal and McNabb hit Fred Davis for a 62-yard completion. Two plays later, Portis scored again from one yard out to increase the lead to 20-7.
