Public Services Level 3
A two year pilot has now come to the end of its first year. Three
schools are testing the delivery of Level 3 Qualifications in
conjunction with cadet activities. The aim is to offer a flexible
Qualification which can be delivered at Award, Certificate or
Diploma Level, equivalent to 1, 2 or 3 A Levels.

Royton exemplifies disengaged youth, uninterested in school and
desperate to leave, if he weren’t expelled first. However, he is a
model Army Cadet and a bright young man. Through involving him
in the BTEC First Diploma at school Matthew regained his interest
in education, earning a Distinction Grade. He has stayed on into
Sixth Form and is studying towards a BTEC National Diploma in
Public Services, equivalent to three A Levels. He now has hopes
and aspirations, planning to join the Royal Engineers as an Officer.
