This 33
rd
annual Wooden Boat
Festival brought out a record breaking
crowd of satisfied spectators. Three
days of perfect end-of-summer
weather certainly helped, but mostly it
was all about the boats. One hundred
eighty-six registered vessels, along
with dozens of late-comers, made up a
diverse collection that met the fancy of
everyone in attendance.
Small boats lined the shore and
shallows; bigger boats packed the
docks two, three and four deep. Those
that couldn’t fit inside anchored in
the bay creating a separate venue
showcasing the wonders of wood and
water. Plenty of boats had blinding
varnish and perfect paint yet just as
many were there displaying years of
well earned wear and tear. Workboats
