Who’s Who Among Big Cats Can you tell these big cats apart? Look at their fur:
Lion fur is light brown. Lion tails are tipped with a black tuft of fur.
Tiger fur is mostly orange with black stripes. They are the only big cats with stripes.
Leopard fur has dark spots called rosettes.
Jaguar fur looks like leopard fur, but the rosettes have a black dot in the center.
What’s that Sound? Lions, tigers, leopards, jaguars roar. A band of stretchy tissue in their voiceboxes makes this possible. Other big cats don’t have this.
