Making Contact Manatees are endangered. Some scientists worry about them. Tey think people should stay away from manatees. “Most manatees don’t want to have much of anything to do with people,” says Patrick Rose. He’s an aquatic biologist. “Tey seek out quiet places to rest.”


Other scientists agree. Tey think there should be rules that everyone follows. Here are some examples. People should not touch manatees. People should not block a manatee's path.


Many tourists want to swim with and touch manatees.
