Getting to the Goal Fields of white snow stretch as far as the eye can see. T e only sounds are the swish, swish of skis. It’s spring, but it's cold. Jade Hameister is dragging a sled piled high with gear. It weighs more than she does. She’s tired. Her hands ache with cold. Yet she keeps moving toward her goal. Jade is determined to reach the North Pole. Jade is 14.

Jade is trying to complete something called the Polar Hat Trick. She must hike across the North Pole, the South Pole, and Greenland. She will cover nearly 2,000 kilometers in three trips.

Jade drags tires across a beach to train for her trip.
