Not All Alike
All trees have bark, roots, and trunks. But they are not all alike.
Rainbow Bark Bark protects trees. It can be dark and thick or pale and papery. T e rainbow eucalyptus's bark looks like someone painted it.
T ese bright colors may be a good defense. T ey send signals to insects and other animals that the tree is poisonous.
Snorkel Roots
Mangroves live near the ocean. T ey have special roots. T e roots protect this tree from salty water. T ey filter out harmful salt.
Tall, thin tubes grow up from the roots and reach above the tides. T ey are like snorkels. T ey help the trees breathe.
Trunk Tanks
Baobab trees store water in their trunks. T ese trees can live for years without rain. Baobabs, like other trees, are amazing. Look around. Our world is filled with trees. It wouldn't be the same without them.
