Manatee Meet the
Their egg-shaped heads, flat flippers, and fan-shaped tails are hard to miss. Manatees are often spotted in shallow, coastal areas. They graze on sea grasses and algae.
Manatees can measure up to 4 meters long and can weigh up to 1,200 kilograms.
Manatees eat 10 percent of their body weight in plants every day.
Large, strong tails power their swimming. Manatees can do somersaults and barrel rolls. They can also swim upside down.
