Future Leaders
New England GROWS is a great place for young people to explore the possibilities and potential available to them in today’s green industry. New England GROWS’ Future Leaders program encour- ages youth participation by providing students with an exclusive opportunity to gain cutting-edge horticultural knowledge, engage with industry leaders, explore the latest equipment and services and familiarize themselves with many career options. Teachers are encouraged to contact GROWS for details.
Founded in 1993 by green industry professionals for green industry professionals, New England GROWS’ educational conference and exposition gives participants unique access to targeted, industry-specific products, information, educa- tion and connections. The New England Nursery Association, Massachusetts Arborists Association, Massachusetts Association of Landscape Professionals and Massachusetts Nursery & Landscape Association are the organization’s founding partners. Proceeds from New England GROWS go directly back to the industry to support the work of these and other green industry organizations.
Your participation helps GROWS actively sup- ports the six New England state Cooperative Extension Systems through research grants that total nearly half a million dollars to date. Recently, GROWS grants have helped to fund regional research projects such as use of non- invasives, pollinator health, and wildflower meadow establishment. Grants have also been used by Extension for industry education and outreach, to help recruit students, and the development of field diagnostic test kits. Funds from the show also support related community- based programs, such as the Boston Schoolyard Initiative and the FFA.
