TCIA’s Electrical Hazard Awareness Program (EHAP)

Green industry professionals working in the field are exposed to electricity on a regular basis. It is a serious and widespread hazard. In fact, electricity causes about 30% of industry fatalities, making it the leading cause of worker fatality. Did you know that a street lamp circuit or phone line can be charged with enough energy to kill? Workers don’t even have to touch a wire to be electrocuted – about half of all electrocution fatalities are the result of indirect contact.

Renowned educator and safety expert John Ball, Ph.D., CTSP will lead this critically impor- tant course. Class content includes hazard recognition, identification of voltage of com- mon electrical hardware and safe approach distances, hazard avoidance, and how to safely work in the vicinity of conductors. This course is widely recognized as the indus- try training standard to help comply with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.269 regulations.
