Self-Seeding in the Garden We can all learn from nature how visually powerful it is when a sweep of one plant has seeded in the landscape: poppies, bergamot, or Joe-pye weed in a field, Trillium grandiflorum on a northern wooded slope, or winter aconites beneath a beech tree. In our own gardens (if we don’t mulch too heavily or weed too ruth- lessly) we can have drifts and ribbons of flowers cropping up in unexpected places, which gives a garden charm and soul. Learn how to meet the challenge of editing to achieve the best results in a successful self-seeding garden.
