he 2016 USA Curling Junior National Championships will be held Jan. 16-23 at the Willmar Civic Center, in Willmar, Minn. T e Willmar Curling Club is honored to be chosen as the host

Lake about seven min- utes away from the Civic Center. Kandiyohi is a Dakota

Native American name for “where Buff alo fi sh abound.” At the time of the settlement of the county, these carp-like fi sh migrated in schools from lake to lake, hence replicating movement of the buff alo herds that were treading the southern prairie ground as it blended into the wooded hills and glacial lakes of the northern area of Kandiyohi County. T e Buff alo fi sh are mostly gone like their hoofed namesake. What exists today in the county is some of the best agricultural land on earth, and beautiful lakes nestled in a wooded land- scape. T e Willmar area is a Minnesota regional center whose mainstays are diverse agriculture, innovative agriculture engineering fi rms, excellent medical and mental health facilities and services, education, tourism, and curling! We are going to curl in an arena? Yes, but rest assured, the USCA National

Ice Crew will be creating the championship fi eld of play. You will fi nd the Blue Line Arena comfortable, with reserved seating, warm-room viewing behind glass, and other viewing in the cooler arena air. T e arena is fi ve minutes from any lodging and food service. Be sure to plan for the banquet, honoring our junior teams. It will feature entertainment and a great dance band. We hope you will meet several of our event sponsors during your stay. For all event information, including additional lodging and the sup- port/host family program, visit www.2016jrnationalscurling.com See you in Willmar in January! Q
