Tailored Coatings Increase Cutting Speeds Developing tailored tool coatings helps increase cutting speeds, raising productivity and lowering costs when work- ing with demanding gear-cutting processes. About 8% of manufacturing costs are incurred by the cutting tools, including their coatings; cooling costs account for 12%, machinery setup costs 24%, and other factors 26%. At about 30%, machining costs make up the largest


cost component, and they can be reduced most effectively through higher cutting speeds. Wireless Connection for Sharing Data Shop Floor Automations is developing WiFi USB Connect.
