oday, there is no shortage of metrology devices that meet the varied needs of manufacturing professionals. Some, like micrometers or calipers, have a long his-
tory yet remain relevant today, holding their own against newer technologies like lasers. Pneumatic or air gaging is perhaps unique in that it is a mix of old and new, employing a principle of measure- ment fi rst discovered over a hundred years ago but remaining more than relevant today through advanced electronics. It is still evolving. Are there good reasons for choosing pneu- matic gaging? Yes—for the right application.
