PRODUCT PREVIEWS THE LATEST MANUFACTURING MACHINES, TOOLS AND TECHNOLOGY

Traveling Column VMC Shops VTC-805E vertical traveling column machining center enables

p

shops to tackle long and/or heavy parts. The machine combines an increased Y-axis stroke and long bed/table size for effi cient, power- ful machining. The VTC-805E provides an extended Y-axis travel of 32" (813-mm) size, high spindle speed and torque and Mazak’s new SmoothG CNC control as a cost-effective alternative to a bridge-style machine. The machine’s fi xed table measures 82.7 × 32.3" (2100 × 820 mm), while its moving column design provides a 69.3" (1760-mm) X axis and 28.3" (719-mm) Z axis. An optional center partition transforms the VTC-805E’s table into two separate work areas to process parts on one side, load/unload on the other. The VTC-805E features a 30-hp (22-kW), CAT 50-taper, 6000-rpm spindle for machining a wide variety of materials including titanium, aluminum, steel, and cast iron. An optional 40-hp (30-kW), CAT 50-taper, 10,000-rpm spindle is available. Mazak Corp.

End Mills Double Feed Rates Stabilizer 2.0 family of end mills incorporate pat- ented continuous variable asymmetrical geometries to provide smooth and chatter-free performance doubling feed rates. Stabilizer 2.0 includes series designed for steels, alloy steels, and cast iron as well as for the ISO-M and ISO-S materials, including stainless steel, titanium, and high-temp alloys. Advanced AlTiN coating offers resistance to heat and abrasion to optimize tool life. Available in diameters from 0.125 to 1.0" (3–25) mm with square corner and corner radii, based on series and diameter.

New Generation Automatic Lathe ABC automatic lathes are designed for turning simple to moderately complex parts in cycle times up to 15% faster than the previous generation with rapid spindle acceleration (8 g), shorter spindle ramp-up times, higher rapid traverse rates, and quick chip-to-chip times. Ideal for runs from 5000 to 50,000 parts in the 42–60-mm range. Up to 19 tools are available with live tools for both turrets and simultaneous machining with up to three tools. The ABC is equipped with up to fi ve driven back-working tools and offers driven tools in

Flexible Snap Gages

Hommel-Etamic AG380 pneumatic snap gages quickly and cost-effectively check a range of different diameters from 17 to 48 mm, providing measurements with consistent high levels of precision. Pneumatic snap gages are commonly used in dimensional industrial production metrology to reliably measure shaft diameters with strict tolerances. The fl exible snap gage is ideal both for small-scale and prototype production as well as mass production. The gage can be
