The YuMi dual-arm collaborative robot will be on display at AUTOMATE, from April 3-6, 2017, at Chicago’s McCormick Place. YuMI is designed to work very closely with people in a wide variety of small parts assembly and handling applications. It can do so due to its inherently safe design, and has a lightweight yet rigid magnesium skeleton covered with a fl oating plastic casing wrapped in soft padding to absorb impacts. If YuMi senses an unexpected impact, such as a collision with a coworker, it can pause its motion within milliseconds. The motion can be restarted as easily as pressing play on a remote control. Bi-Directional Inductive Coupling IO-Link enabled Inductive Coupling product family is expand- ing to include bi-directional IO-Link communication. This solution enables transfer of power and data over a small air gap—making the coupling well suited for the industrial space, where getting I/O in hard to reach places or to moving components is a challenge. The IO-Link inductive coupler, with its small compact IP67 housing (40 × 40 × 70 mm), is the industry’s fi rst compact inductive coupler to offer 32 bytes of bi-directional data transfer over a standard 4-pole M12 sensor cable. Dual-Arm, Single-Axis SCARA Cobot The duAro provides the fl exibility needed to be applied to pro- duction lines with a short product cycle and frequent changeovers, and it can safely collaborate with humans in work operations. It is the fi rst dual-arm SCARA robot to operate on a single axis. It has a payload capacity of 2 kg per arm. The single-axis confi guration enables the robot to perform coordinated and independent arm movements, making it ideal for applications such as material han- dling, assembly, machine tending and dispens- ing.
