TRENDING BUZZ WORTHY Joel Tinney 1

TRICK SHOTS

ESPN’s “SportsCenter” just might want to reserve a permanent slot for college lacrosse in its “Top 10” plays for lacrosse as long as Johns Hopkins’ Joel Tinney and Albany’s Connor Fields are playing. Tinney, who went viral with a hidden-ball trick goal against Navy in the Blue Jays’ season opener, pulled another sleight of hand Feb. 18 in overtime against Loyola, fooling the entire Greyhounds defense on a fake flip before nailing the game-winner. Fields, once Lyle Thompson’s understudy, did his best impression in consecutive weeks against Drexel and UMass on Feb. 25 and March 1 — posting up his defender, whipping a behind-the-back fake pass and then dancing inside the stunned defense to score.

Meanwhile, Mrs. SCTop10, Stony Brook’s Kylie Ohlmiller, scored between her legs with her back to the goal Feb. 21 against Marist. Check out top plays and our favorite viral videos in “Dialed In,” posted at 8 a.m. Eastern daily on uslaxmagazine.com.

MLL is taking its championship game to Dallas and the NLL is beating the expansion drum in nine different cities. The MLL season ends Aug. 19 at the Ford Center at the Star in Frisco, Texas. Commissioner David Gross’ successor will get a good look at Dallas, with Houston also on the radar for an expansion franchise. NLL commissioner Nick Sakiewicz, meanwhile, is eyeing Baltimore, Long Island, Montreal, Philadelphia, D.C.,

Edmonton, Miami and San Francisco. Philly radio host John Barchard reported the rumors Feb. 20.

LIVE STREAMING

The first college lacrosse game streamed live on Twitter set a Campus Insiders record with more than 680,000 unique viewers. It helped to have a thriller with several underlying storylines. Virginia defeated Loyola 16-15 in coach Lars Tiffany’s debut with the Cavaliers. It was the most watched Campus Insiders game of all time, beating out several college football and basketball games previously streamed. “It reinforces the strength of the lacrosse community and its engagement in social media,” said Jim Paquette, Loyola assistant vice president and director of athletics.
