“Overall, I really enjoyed my weekend with
USA Volleyball. This was my third time at the U.S. Women’s National Team Open Tryout, and every year the experience has been different. “With each chance to compete, there’s a chance to learn, and this year’s tryout was no different. Getting to compete with and against some of the best players in the game brings both challenges and opportunities. There’s the ever- present pressure to represent both yourself and your respective university that I’m sure everyone trying out can relate to. However, there is also an opportunity to play next to new people and learn from new coaches that may offer different perspectives than the ones we’re used to seeing in our home gyms. “Being a member of the HP pipeline can
really help with my future volleyball career goals. Playing for such an elite program provides so many opportunities for me, as it has for so many great athletes before. Looking at the current U.S. Women’s National Team roster, there are a num- ber of athletes who once went through the same tryout that I’ve participated in multiple times. Even if my future doesn’t include being a member of the national team roster, this tryout, and this program, can provide me with the resources and connections to fulfill my goal of eventually play-
