SOCIAL MEDIA CASEY PATTERSON
PLAYING THE FIVB AND AVP TOURS WHILE TRYING TO RAISE a young family can be challenging, but beach Olympian Casey Patterson has kept up with the times. The father of three knows how to navigate his way through a smart phone. Patterson, who played collegiately at BYU, was a top 10 threat on the FIVB Tour the last four seasons with Jake Gibb and earned one of the two American spots at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Patterson has begun the next quad partnering with Theo Brunner. The new pair fi nished ninth at the FIVB Ft. Lau- derdale Major in February, but went 3-0 in pool play, including a sweep of reign- ing Olympic gold medalists Bruno Oscar Schmidt and Alison Cerutti of Brazil.
Sign Now— This app is awesome. It allows you to initial, print and sign documents without having to download, scan and resend from a printer and desktop computer. I am able to sign contracts and documents on the go from my phone. It’s been a lifesaver.
FitRadio —This is an app that provides listening to a custom DJ’s playlist for working out. Each DJ creates multiple playlists in all sorts of genres. Our homie DJ Roueche has added a couple to the app.
Venmo— This app has been so much easier to pay coaches, babysitters and friends. It has eliminated the awkward moments when you think (but are not sure) you owe somebody money. I pay my coach through this all year so I am able to go back and track it for tax season.
Geocaching— This is like real life Pokemon Go. People leave treasures, tokens and data log a list of those who fi nd the little items hidden all over the world. It’s a super fun activity to do with kids while on a bike ride or traveling with a bunch of friends or family.
Netfl ix — I love the new download option with TV series or movies they provide. You can save a whole series to your phone for two weeks. That way if you’re traveling or away from cell/wifi service you can watch your downloaded content.
Instagram — This is an amazing app we all probably use. It lets me share my traveling, playing and life in photos and short videos. It’s a perfect all in one app for building a social presence.
