He was a member/ speaker for SMAC (Students Making a Change), Senior Class vice-president, Student Council member, captain of the Academic Team that earned a district championship in 2016, Boy’s State delegate, two- me Student of the Month at WHS, and seven-  me Superintendent’s Honor Roll at Wyando e Public Schools.


Carson Loncarich


Accep ng the 2017 REC College Scholarship for the O awa County area is Carson Loncarich of Wyando e. Carson intends to pursue a career in Optometry and will commence his collegiate studies this fall at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah.


A 4.0 student, Loncarich’s organiza onal par cipa on was extensive. He was a member and vice-president of the Na onal Honor Society and was elected to represent the state of Oklahoma as a member


Loncarich achieved much with his extra-curricular ac vi es as well, excelling in several venues, including football, basketball, baseball and powerli ing—to the extent he was awarded the coveted Wendy’s High School Heisman Scholarship.


Community involvement for Loncarich meant tutoring, coaching youth basketball, and volunteering  me to help out at a local nursing home.


“Carson is an excep onal young man and a remarkable student,” commended WHS Language Arts instructor Marsha Hampton. “In today’s society, it is not o en that we hear of young men with integrity and outstanding character; Carson Loncarich exemplifi es these characteris cs. He is a young man who is respec ul of authority, dependable


in every regard, and is driven in his desire to achieve academically. Carson is well-respected by his peers and by all faculty members. This young man is impressive in his determina on to succeed. He is an excep onal young man who serves as a posi ve example academically, socially and morally. Carson is an excellent role model to everyone.”


Ma Robertson, History Department Chair at Wyando e High School, only reinforced Hampton’s assessment of Loncarich.


“I have known Carson since he was in the third grade,” Robertson said. “He has only ever been a great kid who makes great decisions. He is the model of leadership, scholarship, hard work and ci zenship, and will be successful in any endeavor he pursues. Carson is without a doubt among the top three students I’ve ever had in my career. He is a well- rounded and capable young man whose leadership capabili es are unmatched among anyone I’ve ever had. He is a tremendous student and an inspira on to everyone around him. His character is never even ques oned and he maintains integrity and honor in everything he does.”


Congratula ons to Phil Hendrix on a well-deserved re rement


Phil Hendrix began a nearly 38-year career with Northeast Oklahoma Electric Coopera ve on June 25, 1979. During his years of service, Hendrix served the membership as a lineman, serviceman, dispatcher, and materials handler. Hendrix’s last offi cial day of employment was April 27, 2017. His sense of humor and ready-to-help a tude will be missed.
