AFS Encourages Metalcasters to Join MFG Day Manufacturers across the U.S. will be hosting and


sponsoring events to promote the country’s manufacturing industry with the fi fth annual Manufacturing Day to be held Oct. 7. As a national sponsor of the national celebration, AFS encourages metalcasting businesses to become involved by hosting, attending, or providing resources for an event. Events can include facility tours, short workshops for area


youth, classroom demonstrations, open houses, public tours, career workshops and other activities to increase public awareness of modern manufacturing. AFS is hosting its own event Oct. 7, from 10:00 a.m.-


3:00 p.m. at its headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois. T e day will feature foundry-in-a-box demonstrations, discus- sions with metalcasting companies and industry education. A toolkit to help plan a Manufacturing Day event is available at www.mfgday.com. It includes resources on event formats, audiences, and tips for success.

call for papers for its 121st Metalcasting Congress held April 25-27, 2017, at the Wisconsin Center in Milwaukee.
