Powerful Features Simplify Computed Tomography X-ray

T

o keep pace with the changing demands of X-ray inspection us- ers, a new X-ray system from YXLON (Hudson,

Ohio) includes features that meet current needs and anticipate chal- lenges. The YXLON FF35 CT X-ray System was designed with both the novice and the seasoned X-ray system operator in mind. The FF Series introduces a new intuitive user interface along with many other features that were on YXLON’s cus- tomer wish list. The system has both a single- and dual-tube configura- tion, which allows for a variety of sample sizes. Other features include software developed for metrology needs, such as dimensional and

internal structure measurement, ease of transition from 2-D to 3-D in- spection, reduced probe set-up time, easier part manipulation through touch screens, remote monitoring, and push messaging. T e FF35 CT with a single-tube or

dual-tube confi guration off ers versatil- ity with high-resolution and preci- sion, and a broader range of inspec- tion, including the measurement of numerous components and diff erent materials. T e single tube confi gura- tion works well for small castings, 3-D printed parts and assemblies. T e high-resolution image quality allows users to accurately detect defects and discriminate between blowholes and material. Sharp contrast makes exact measurements possible.

Customers also indicated a desire

for greater heat reduction within the system. To achieve this, all tubes used in the FF CT Series systems are water-cooled. Temperature optimiza- tion is realized not only at the target (the small piece of metal where X-ray is generated by accelerated electrons), but also with the heat- generating internal components like magnet coils, which are needed to focus the electron beam. This allows a quick temperature

balance, essential for a stable posi- tion of the focal spot and a stable operation that limits additional thermal expansion of the tube. Ad- ditionally, a granite manipulator base maximizes precision. Another customer-requested
