• T e casting supplier used 3D drawings and stereolithography rapid prototype technology to cut lead time in half, from 12 weeks to six.
• Compared to those produced via green sand, the investment cast- ings reduced machining, welding, and grinding requirements for the 500-lb. impeller.
• T e impellers, measuring 30 in. in diameter, were extensively tested and found to be defect free.
