AN ADVERTISER’S HOT IDEA

Advertising agencies aren’t shy about playing to the American industrial

workforce: that pickup truck is going to haul more than before, the drive-through is an easy way to feed the family on the way home, and that light beer is a reward after an exhausting work week.

Thanks to a 30-second spot featuring a bit in a metalcasting facility, you can add tacos to that list. The Taco Bell ad features a brief scene where two workers discuss what’s next for the restaurant’s line of Doritos taco shells. A blow torch is lit, ensuing scenes show things burst into fl ames, and we fi nd out the answer is Fiery Doritos Locos Tacos.

Developed by the Deutsch LA agency and fi lmed at Acme Castings Inc., Huntington Park, Calif., the spot features two professional actors in a sensationalized “foundry,” but three Acme employees can be seen in the background. The scene lasts less than four seconds, so keep your eyes peeled. 
