lutions provider with services ranging from a complete prototype to proven-out design, to finished parts in production quantities. Value added in-house services include machining, painting, plating, and galvanizing. Assistance is available in converting fabrications and weldments into castings as well. We deploy simulation software, 3-axis CNC machining, an advanced metallurgical lab and CMM to ensure our castings meet all specifications to guarantee qualify. Additive manufacturing technologies are used for both research & development of rapid prototypes and production of small runs. Buck Company is the only domestic jobbing shop pouring medium to long-run sand cast- ings in aluminum, brass and bronze, as well as ductile and malleable iron in two separate foundries located under one roof. One centrally located core room produces Laempe, Palmer, Redford and Harrison cores for both foundries. All molds produced at Buck are green sand and horizontally parted. The Non-Ferrous Foundry’s automatic mold-
ing machines consist of 14X19 & 20x24 flask sizes, a cope and drag line and one side-floor for larger castings. The Ferrous Foundry’s au- tomatic molding machines are 14x19, 16x20, and 20x24, and a cope and drag line with multiple flask sizes. Two robotic grinders are located within Buck’s finishing departments to assist with higher volume parts and stricter finishing requirements. Buck has adopted Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma techniques to reduce waste and efficiently produce and finish castings. The Team Approach, which is highly valued at Buck is used during the completion of Value Stream Maps, through Kaizen Events and the development of Standard Work. Buck Company’s commitment and dedi- cation to continuous improvement is second to none. Buck’s castings are used in many demanding industries including: Railroad, Agricultural, High Voltage Electric, Oil & Gas, Mining, Pump & Valve, Power Generation, Transportation, and many others.
