Perfect for 1:1 computing! Featured Online Writing Center Components

Located within the Student Dashboard, My Writing Pad includes age-appropriate word-processing tools. Using this unique technology tool, students

• compose and submit their work entirely online. • access, revise, and edit their writing at any time.

Included in the Online Writing Center for Grades 2–8, Next Generation Assessment Practice prepares students for success on constructed- response test items and consists of two parts:

• Part 1: Close Reading • Part 2: Writing to Multiple Sources

Three assessments are provided for each grade level—one per CCSS text type (Narrative, Informative/Explanatory, and Opinion or Argument). Students respond to both texts and videos and use word-processing skills to complete the assessments.

Accessible from the Teacher Dashboard, the Class Writing Pad features the familiar My Writing Pad word-processing tools and

• provides a collaborative writing space for whole- or small-group instruction.

• allows teachers to save collaborative writing pieces for later instruction, and even save them from year to year.

Pretests & Posttests are included in the Grades 2–8 Online Writing Center for measuring students’ growth. This feature provides • two Writing Prompts per text type, each with a specific rubric.

• a Rubric-Based Scoring Spreadsheet for tracking student data on the Pretest and Posttest.

• Mini-lessons and Additional Activities for instructing in traits where students need improvement.
