7.  HISTORY, CULTURE & BEAUTY IN KOTOR Sail into the fjord-like Bay of Kotor in Montenegro. Disembark ship for a guided walking tour in Kotor, an ancient maritime center and designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. Have lunch on your own or return to the ship; as a special treat today, enjoy an onboard performance by a local women’s a cappella group. 8.  HVAR – A LAND OF LAVENDER & OLIVES Tender ashore to the island of Hvar welcoming you with lush vineyards, aromatic fields of lavender, and myriad cultural treasures. With a local guide, explore Hvar Town and Stari Grad, where the ancient geometrical system of land division used by the ancient Greeks has remained virtually intact over 24 centuries, on a walking tour. Today’s sightseeing also visits Spanjola Fortress, steeped in medieval charm, and inviting with spectacular coastal views. 9.  THE ISTRIA PENINSULA: PULA AND ROVINJ Discoveries along the Istrian Peninsula, bordering Italy on Croatia’s northern Adriatic coast, begin when you dock in Pula for a walking tour; visit its 1st-century amphitheatre, considered the best-preserved in the world. Sail to the fairy-tale village of Rovinj this afternoon, where a guided walking tour reveals its storied sights.
