Make a Pivotal Change with Anjelica Shanklin

A

njelica Shanklin of Pivot Holistic Health can give you the tools to

take charge of your health. Modern healthcare is lacking personalization. It seems all too often patients symptoms are managed, instead of actually addressing the root causes of poor health. Alarmingly, it is projected that by 2020, chronic diseases will account for almost three-quarters of all deaths worldwide! The top chronic diseases are heart disease, stroke and diabetes. Prevention of these chronic diseases is what we should focus on. Diet has been known for many years to play a key role as a risk factor for chronic diseases. Take a holistic approach by incorporating not only eating for health but also fi tness and mindfulness training. Anjelica shares, “I want to

congratulate you on taking the initiative to obtain optimal health and wellness. Investing in your health is investing in the quality of your life. Pivot Holistic Health has a main focus of helping people eat naturally and consume foods that the human

body has been designed to eat. Currently, Americans are ingesting so many preservatives, artifi cial colors and sweeteners. The American diet has swung to convenience food vs nutritious food and our nation’s health is seriously plummeting because of it. Instead we should be eating whole foods that have high nutrient yield, high fi ber, and foods that are free of added chemicals. We must arm ourselves with knowledge if we want to sort out how to eat for optimum health.”

substitute for high calorie pasta. The same sauces used on pasta will also work well with spaghetti squash! Cooking spaghetti squash is very easy. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. The toughest part is cutting it in two. The ends are very tough so start in the center and cut towards both ends with a large knife. Scoop out the seeds with a spoon. Place squash in a fl at cooking pan that has a rim. I use a large rectangle cake pan. Place squash pulp down and add water to about 1/2-1 inch above edge of squash. Then simply place squash in the oven. Depending on the size of your squash it could take 30-50 minutes to cook. Once you can pierce the skin of squash with a fork, it is done. Pull out of the oven and let cool. Then, simply take your fork and run it across the fl esh of the squash. It will come off just like spaghetti! From here you can add a little butter or olive oil, salt, pepper and/or garlic powder to taste if you wish. Voilà, you have a low carb substitute for pasta! Enjoy!
