NORTH AYRSHIRE YOUTH COUNCIL

The Youth Council has representation from a wide variety of young people aged 12-25 from across North Ayrshire. From the Youth Council, a group of young people are elected as the Executive Committee. These young people act as a steering group and create the agenda for the Youth Council.

JOINT CABINET MEETINGS

We promise to deliver programmes and activities that develop your confidence and recognise your contribution to your community as active citizens.

Within our participation structure, members of the Executive Committee meet four times a year with members of the Cabinet of North Ayrshire Council. Meetings take place in various secondary schools and around 70 pupils from that secondary school are invited to attend. These meetings are called Joint Cabinet Meetings and are a way for young people’s voices to be heard by the Leader of the Council, Councillors, North Ayrshire Council’s Chief Executive and Heads of Education and Youth Employment. These meetings, along with joint working, ensure their views are both listened to and acted upon to promote positive change.

The agendas of these meetings are set and agreed by members of the Executive Committee and the Cabinet of North Ayrshire Council. These meetings are an excellent opportunity for young people of the Cabinet and the audience to play an active role in their schools and communities, participating in making decisions that affect the lives of local young people.
