n FAIRMONT ST ANDREWS Fairmont St Andrews (pictured), the five-star, award-winning hotel, is undertaking a multi-million pound interior refurbishment programme over the next 18 months to “elevate” its facilities. The capital investment will mean


new interiors for all of the public areas as well as all bathrooms and suites. The result will see the existing atrium area transformed with new features including the installation of a bespoke lighting sculpture by renowned designer George Singer. The renovation will marry modern interior design with St. Andrews’ legacy as the ‘Home of Golf’ and will draw on the skills of local artisans and workers. Work began in January and the


refurbishment programme has been planned to maximise the experience for leisure, corporate and event guests at one of Scotland’s leading hotels; it will be carried out in phases so as not to interrupt normal business at the hotel. The refurbishment begins with the re- modelling of the Kittocks Den Bar, the lobby and the atrium followed by the corridors and bathrooms.

n DUNKELD HOUSE HOTEL, DUNKELD As of the Thursday 5th May 2016 the hotel returned to being an independent country house hotel. The new owners, Dunkeld House Hotel LLP, plan significant capital investment to further improve the quality of the hotel facilities including all 98 bedrooms, public areas and function space. The hotel will not close during refurbishment as there will be minimum disruption to guests.


n BORTHWICK CASTLE, EDINBURGH A refurbished castle on the outskirts of Edinburgh is opening as a wedding and corporate events venue. Borthwick Castle, a 600-year- old keep in North Middleton, has undergone an extensive modernisation programme. With underfloor heating in the

n DAKOTA, WEST REGENT STREET, GLASGOW The Dakota chain opened a new 83-bed hotel in Glasgow in April with facilities for corporate meetings and private dining. The board room, for 10 delegates, boasts and ultra-high definition interactive 55” flatpanel display, full integration with HDMI connectivity and a high fidelity sound system. The hotel, on West Regent Street in the city, also has a bar and grill and a champagne room. Room hire rates are £150 for half-day and £200 for full day.


n RADISSON RED, GLASGOW Big on fashion, music, art and technology, the Radisson RED brand is coming to Glasgow. Radisson RED made its debut in Brussels in April, with Cape Town joining the Scottish site in a 60-strong pipeline expected up to 2020. The £30m, 176-bedroom hotel will be built on a site near the SECC, the Clyde Auditorium and the Hydro.
