UK CURRICULUM & LEARNING

The platform has already been used by 200,000 students. Said Colin Hegarty, “As well as providing me with the first steps in my career and the skills I use every day to work efficiently and with purpose, Deloitte has helped me set up robust technology systems. It has also held a strategy workshop day to help me develop a plan to make HegartyMaths sustainable and maximise its impact on maths students. “Deloitte invited my apprentice coders to visit the

offices for outreach events, which have proved very rewarding for the apprentices and given them ambition and confidence to apply to work in a firm like Deloitte in the future.” September 2016 saw the launch of Ada, the National College for Digital Skills, which aims to tackle digital-skills shortages. Dean and co-founder Tom Fogden was a maths teacher who went on to join Deloitte’s consulting practice, working on a variety of technology and education projects. Through this experience, Mr Fogden said, he learnt the fundamental, all-round business skills that are so essential in a start-up organisation.

In autumn 2016, 150 students were enrolled in the

college’s sixth form and higher-level apprenticeships, which include a foundation degree in computer sciences.

“Within five years,” said Tom Fogden, “Ada’s London

campus will have educated 5,000 students, with a second campus planned in the north west of England. We want the college to use digital skills as a tool for social mobility, and, by 2021, 40 per cent of the students will be women and 50 per cent will have been eligible for free school meals.” Mr Fogden explained that Deloitte had been very

supportive throughout and had provided the college with a Deloitte Digital secondee for nine months. He added, “Kevin Walsh, Deloitte’s global technology leader, sits on our board of trustees and is helping us grow important relationships across the firm. It’s a very exciting time for Ada, and I’m looking forward to completing the circle and supplying some of the next generation of tech talent.” The current focus on science and technology is

informing Relocate’s emphasis on innovation in 2017. As we celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Relocate Awards, we will be recognising employers and HR directors responsible for managing and developing global talent, as well as the countless specialists and suppliers who ensure that employees and their families achieve a smooth transition to their new job and location, whether in the UK or around the globe.

“A wonderful place to grow a rooted sense of self, and joy in life and learning.”
