ome of the most inspiring business leaders of 2019 were honoured at the fi nals of the IoD Director of the Year Awards, which took place at

The Brewery in London on 18 October. After an introductory video message from the prime minister, the IoD’s chair, Charlotte Valeur, addressed the packed room, noting the quality of the nominees. “You have shown dedication, resilience and creativity. Each of your stories is inspiring,” she said. “The best directors don’t just benefi t their own company or shareholders. They certainly aren’t just in it for themselves. The best directors are an asset to the whole of their community, through the leadership they show and the new ideas they make into a reality.”
