MALCOLM CANNON, a physiology and pharmacology graduate from the University of St Andrews, started his career in 1985 as a sales rep with Danish multinational Leo Pharma. After working in marketing jobs at companies ranging from Fisons to Highland Distillers, he served as CEO of Hunter Boot in 2006-09, where he turned a business that had made a £400,000 loss into a profitable concern. Leadership roles at three property firms – ESPC, Lomond Lettings and Braemore – followed and in 2015 he was appointed chief executive of Cricket Scotland. The Scottish team’s first ever win against England was the crowning moment of Cannon’s tenure, which ended in September 2019 when he became director of IoD Scotland. Last year he also joined the board of Scottish Championship football club Partick Thistle as a non-executive director.
