Kingspan
The optimum thermal performance and environmental credentials of Kingspan Kooltherm FM Pipe Insulation have been used to full effect at the French Ministry of Defence’s new €4.2bn Paris HQ, constructed by Bouygues. The Balard complex was designed to achieve HQE (Haute Qualitié Environnementale) certification, the French standard for environmentally conscious buildings. It functions as an almost self-sufficient high performing ecosystem, with a range of state-of-the-art solutions such as its 4,000m2
To ensure services ran according to the strict requirements, 10,000m2
photovoltaic roof. of
Kingspan Kooltherm FM Pipe Insulation in various thicknesses was installed on hot and cold water pipework networks throughout the development. The product’s fibre-free insulation core delivers outstanding energy performance, with thermal conductivities as low as 0.025W/m∙K. This allowed the desired thermal performance to be achieved with the slimmest solution, saving vital service space and contributing to the energy requirements of the BREEAM Assessment, in which the building achieved a rating of “Very Good”.

Dunham Bush
A comprehensive re-evaluation of the needs of both the end user and the Installer were the key criteria behind the de- velopment of Dunham-Bush’s new improved range of LST (System Low Surface Temperature) radiators. The enhanced LST range offers seven styles, each available with standard panel radiators or low water content, high effi- ciency fin-pipe elements.
Latest design techniques have made it possible to improve outputs by up to 15%, while retaining the same casing dimen- sions on some previous models. Outputs range from 130 to 3800W @50°C ∆T. Access to the heating element is gained via a removable and lockable access panel, making routine cleaning and vent- ing a simple process. New to the range is a front facing outlet grille option, en- abling the emitter to be installed under a shelf or a window- sill.
Innovative design techniques have simplified the installa-
tion process and reduced fixing times significantly. For example the back plate also acts as a fixing template and includes hanging brackets for the heat emitter, simpli- fying the installation process and substantially reducing the fitting time. Two stage installations are easily carried out through first and second fix stages, reducing the risk of on-site damage to the outer casings. On larger projects supplies can also be phased into first and second fix de- liveries, reducing the need for secure storage of aesthetically sensitive components, such as outer casings and grille, whilst easing cash flow. A variety of thermostatic and lock-shield valves from leading manufac-
turers, including Danfoss, Herz and Honeywell, can be fitted to the radi- ators. These can be fitted either with externally mounted heads for user
Grundfos
The Grundfos Product Center (GPC) is now well established as the ‘go to’ pump selection tool of choice for an increasing number of industry pro- fessionals. This could be because much thought and consideration went into its re-design in order to develop a pump selection tool that would make choosing the right pump solution as straightforward as possible. When a replacement pump is required the user simply logs onto the
Product Center and selects the Replacement option on the home page. From here enter the name of the old pump into the Quick Search field or enter the pump name and other data into the Classic Search field. The Product Center will then display the top three replacement pump
choices. The selection can be filtered by choosing either the pump with the lowest purchase price, lowest energy consumption or lowest total lifecycle costs. Additional requirements, such as fluid type, lifecycle costs and evalu- ation criteria provide further filtering options.

adjustment or with remote sensors for a tamper proof solution. As always with Dunham-Bush products, customers have the security of knowing that the published outputs and ‘touch’ temperatures of the radiators have been tested at BSRIA to EN442 and a (DoP) Declaration of Performance has been created guaranteeing performance and enable full compliance with NHS and HSE guidance.
