An integrated technical strategy for commercial refrigeration

Sanhua’s 2025 to 2030 roadmap signals a shift in the commercial refrigeration industry, with complete packages for OEMs and contractors which focus on natural refrigerants and application-oriented development. Federico Bisco, Technical Director of Sanhua Europe, explains.

Thanks to the high

integration of the packages, the installer can reduce commissioning time and costs.

W

ith the acceleration of European regulations on the F-gas front (EU 2024/573) and the uncertainties related to the future of HFOs (subject to possible

restrictions by ECHA), Sanhua has defi ned a new strategy that focuses on two main guidelines: natural refrigerants and integrated component packages. The goal is to become a trusted technical partner for OEMs and contractors in commercial refrigeration. Sanhua’s strategic choice to invest in natural refrigerants, in particular R290 and CO₂, responds to a combination of regulatory, technical and market factors. On the one hand, the new European F-gas regulation and the uncertainties related to the possible ban of HFOs containing PFAS push towards stable solutions without regulatory risks. On the other hand, the demand of the European market – especially in commercial refrigeration – is increasingly oriented towards environmentally friendly technologies, also for reasons of image and perceived sustainability. In this context, Sanhua off ers complete packages optimised for natural refrigerants, helping OEMs accelerate the

transition and stand out with compliant, reliable, and future- proof solutions.

What is a Sanhua ‘package’? By ‘product package’, Sanhua means an integrated off er of coordinated and compatible components, specifi cally designed for a given application. A sample package might include, for example: ■Expansion valves (mechanical or electronic); ■Taps and ball valves; ■Filter driers and line components; ■Pressure and temperature sensors; ■Heat exchangers (microchannel or brazed weld); ■Control electronics (controllers, inverters, thermostats); ■ Any accessories such as safety valves, check valves or tools for charging the system.

All components are selected to be usable together, certifi ed

according to European standards (PED, CEI EN 60335, etc.) and tested to work in real conditions with natural refrigerants. In this way, OEMs can: ■Reduce the design phase; ■Count on a single interlocutor for all components; ■Have coordinated and compatible components ■ Access cheaper economic conditions if they buy the entire package;

■Simplify the approval and testing of your systems.

This approach is particularly useful for standardised or medium-volume applications, such as plug-in cabinets and supermarket condensing units, where the repeatability of confi gurations makes vertical integration of components strategic. Each package is characterised by a consistent development of the component range, with a logic of progressive expansion of the portfolio and a modular standardisation approach that simplifi es integration into OEM systems. With regard to this new strategy, Sanhua has deliberately chosen not to present itself as a manufacturer of fi nished
