What certifi cations are available?
Within the heat pump sector there are several certifi cation programmes, covering a range of product types and capacities. Key voluntary heat pump certifi cation schemes off ered by Eurovent Certifi cation include: ■ Eurovent Certifi ed Performance for Heat Pumps (Eurovent-HP)
For electrically driven, gas absorption and gas internal / external combustion engine driven heat pumps with a heating capacity less than or equal to 100 kW.
■ Eurovent Certifi ed Performance for Chillers and Heat Pumps (LCP-HP) For hydronic heat pumps used for heating, air conditioning and refrigeration applications, which are equipped with any type of electrically driven compressor. ■ Heat Pump KEYMARK (HPKM)
For all heat pumps, combination heat pumps and hot water heaters (as covered by Ecodesign, EU Regulation 813/2013 and 814/2013).
■ MCS for Heat Pumps (MCS007)
Aimed at heat pumps sold in the UK market, the programme covers electrically driven and gas absorption heat pumps up to a 45 kW output.
■ Heat Pumps NF (NF414)
For electrically driven, gas absorption and gas internal / external combustion engine driven heat pumps with a heating capacity less than or equal to 100 kW.
Conclusion Voluntary certifi cation transforms unverifi ed heat pump data into a transparent, trusted resource, directly enabling better design, compliance, procurement, and risk reduction. Independent certifi cations, such as Eurovent Certifi ed Performance, MCS, NF and KEYMARK, make it possible for engineers to select products with scientifi cally validated data, providing systems that perform as promised.

How does voluntary certifi cation help HVAC professionals?
Simply put, certifi cation off ers a guarantee of product performance. Non-certifi ed products have not had their data independently verifi ed and therefore may not perform as advertised. The consequences of underperforming products include: ■Non-compliance with regulations ■Increased energy consumption and higher running costs ■Larger carbon footprint and missed sustainability goals ■Systems that are unable to meet the needs of the client ■Excess noise ■ Faults and breakdown - products must work harder to meet the required capacity
■Complaints, penalties and litigation.
HVAC professionals can use the Eurovent Certifi ed Directory, a free online database, to compare certifi ed heat pumps side-by- side, enabling data-driven selection for projects.
"A key aspect of product performance certifi cation is that its voluntary - manufacturers do not have to certify - so why do some choose to go the extra mile?"
