Vert
UK-based compression pioneer Vert Technologies (Vert) has received £1.9 million investment to expand the presence of its unique Conical Rotary Compressor (CRC) technology in the Refrigeration and heat pump sectors. Vert recently completed a £775,000 investment funding round,
through the very supportive existing investors Par Equity, Equity Gap, Aeroden and Scottish Enterprise, and this will be used primarily to accelerate volume production for the refrigeration, heat pump and liquid pump sectors. Vert has also received £650,000 grant funding from Scottish Enterprise to develop a compressor for the refrigeration market. Alongside this, the company has been awarded £490,000 from the UK Government’s Department of Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy’s (BEIS) Energy Entrepreneurs Fund. The 15-month BEIS project will help the company further refine its CRC technology for use in domestic heat pump systems, which are crucial to the Government’s planned UK-wide roll-out of the technology to meet ambitious net zero carbon emissions targets. Paroc
Paroc, a manufacturer of energy-efficient and fire-safe stone wool insulation products, has launched the Paroc Clad system, a full system that protects pipework and ventilation without the need for costly, hard-to-install metal cladding. Suitable for indoor and outdoor installations, the system is weatherproof, UV-resistant, impermeable to water, and salt-water resistant. It can be used on temperatures up to 680°C, making it ideal for
protecting against temperature losses on high-temperature systems and steam lines. Its robust construction also makes it ideal for use in a wide range of cases including chemical manufacturing, the food industry, HVAC, and even coastal applications. It consists of a highly durable multiple layer composite film, with a fully metal-free and non-corroding surface. This offers further application possibilities where rust needs to be mitigated (like areas in danger of flooding), reduces the weight of a construction, and is maintenance-friendly. Thanks to its simple installation, the system offers significant time and cost savings compared to traditional, more cumbersome installation.
Due to its lightweight design, the system can also be used to insulate tight areas where inflexible metal covering systems are difficult to use. X

According to the EEA (European Environment Agency) ‘Air quality in Europe 2021’ analysis published in December 2021; the vast majority of Europe’s urban population is exposed to levels of air pollutants above new World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines. In this situation the indoor air quality is more and more important for people health. ELFOFresh EVO, ideal for new buildings and renovations, is the
controlled mechanical ventilation and air purification unit for homes and offices from 90 to 250m2, which extracts stale air and purifies the outside air, which is supplied into the space passing through high efficiency electrostatic filters. These filters guarantee very high filtration efficiencies up to ISO ePM1 90% (ISO EN 16890) and are effective on smoke, fine dust especially PM10, PM2,5, PM1, viruses and bacteria. Therefore, they ensure higher air quality even in the most polluted urban areas. It has also a high microbicide power thanks to their high efficiency on sub-microbial particles. This is due to the destruction of the external membrane of bacteria/virus caused by thermoelectric shock generated by the ionized section of the filter. The concentration of some common bacteria was measured before and after the electronic filter and the efficiency, certified by ILH Institute of Berlin, is between 98 and 99%. The R32 refrigerant reduces the environmental impact, moreover the unit has been redesigned to facilitate assembly and insertion in false ceilings (the height is only 290mm, the structure is made with an expanded polypropylene shell to reduce the weight and significantly reduce the noise levels). ELFOFresh EVO not only recovers the energy contained in the
expelled air flow, but thanks to the heat pump technology it satisfies up to 80% of the building’s thermal needs, reaching 100% in mid-seasons. Inverter technology applied to compressor and fan: operation modulates according to the real needs of the system, increasing comfort and reducing consumption. The electronic control of the fans and the compressor allows optimal management of the unit, extending the operating limits in both heating and cooling. In summer operation, thanks to this technology, it is possible to better manage the humidity present in the air introduced.
