Swedish heat pump manufacturer, Qvantum, has launched a new water- to-water heat pump in the UK, designed to meet the challenges of decarbonising cities. With the announcement of the Future Homes Standard and the Warm Homes Plan, heat pumps are the leading choice for sustainable homes but solutions for urban areas can bring extra complexity, due to issues of space, noise and air quality. The compact QG water-to-water heat pump is a great fi t for developers working with 5th-generation ambient heat networks and shared boreholes in new builds and retrofi ts in cities. With a wide operating envelope, the QG is suitable for a mix of energy sources, from ground arrays and surface water to centralised plant and waste heat from nearby assets.

The QG delivers heating, cooling, and domestic hot water in a single integrated unit, featuring an accumulator tank that acts as a thermal battery with heat storage up to 90°C. With FlexReady functionality and API connectivity, it optimises energy use by operating during periods of low electricity prices or renewable surplus and is ready for fl exible energy markets. Domestic hot water is produced instantly via a heat exchanger, eliminating legionella risk and simplifying water quality requirements. The QG uses R290 refrigerant and is available with an in-built source-side pump for use in individual or shared ground source projects or with a PIC-valve (QG-C) for use in an ambient loop, both as 7kW and 14kW options. With its intuitive controls, the QG gives residents across our cities the chance to access cutting-edge technology and be part of a stable, climate-friendly energy future. QG combines a compact footprint, a natural refrigerant with low climate impact, and advanced digital and modular capabilities to deliver a modern heating solution that supports the transition to more sustainable energy systems.

Starfrost

Starfrost has launched its new Hybrid Tunnel Freezer, a next- generation solution for Individual Quick Freezing (IQF). This updated model combines new

design, performance, and hygiene features while maintaining exceptional energy effi ciency.

The Hybrid Tunnel Freezer features

a newly developed, more compact design that delivers up to 60% more production capacity than its predecessor. Despite its reduced size, the system retains full fl exibility and can freeze or chill a wide range of food products, including small and delicate items such as raw minced meat, seafood and cooked proteins. The compact build allows food processors to maximise valuable factory fl oor space without compromising output. This redesigned model not only boosts production throughput but also improves overall system performance without increasing energy consumption. The enhanced capacity is achieved through the addition of two extra conveyor belts, enabling high-volume freezing using the same energy consumption and footprint as the previous model. The Hybrid Tunnel Freezer is built around a ‘clean-by-design’ engineering approach. This design minimises diffi cult-to- clean areas and incorporates smooth surfaces and high-grade components, making cleaning simpler and more eff ective. With a simplifi ed design and smart engineering, the freezer improves cleanability and supports compliance with hygiene standards in food processing environments. A key feature of the new freezer is its multi-belt conveyor system, which crust-freezes products prior to full freezing. This helps retain product shape, structure and appearance while also allowing smoother product transfer between belts. The combination of gentle movement and crust freezing promotes product agitation, reduces clumping and ensures consistently high-quality IQF results.  www.starfrost.com
