Systemair
Systemair is now off ering a Eurovent Certifi ed Performance option for “Hygienic Air Handling Units” (HAHU) as a brand-new feature in all Geniox air handling units (AHUs) in addition to its VDI6022-1 certifi cation. The Swedish multinational ventilation company is the fi rst major manufacturer worldwide to provide this option. Eurovent HAHU Certifi cation is an add-on to the common, well-known Eurovent Certifi ed Performance scheme, which is considered to be the most established AHU certifi cation globally. The HAHU certifi cation is easy to understand as it combines the requirements of multiple hygienic standards into one. This includes requirements defi ned in VDI 6022-1, for general ventilation and lower healthcare demand, the DIN 1946-4 codes and standards, and HTM 03-01, commonly used in the United Kingdom. Having one standard that meets these requirements helps reduce the confusion in the market and brings an end to the current patchwork of diff ering national norms. Evgeny Gorelkov, product area director AHU at Systemair said, “The Eurovent approach to hygienic units is generally appreciated, as it creates a common frame of reference for consultants, planners and installers. This removes the burden of having to cope with a multitude of diff erent guidelines worldwide. This challenging certifi cation sets a new industry standard. Our commitment to meet its stringent requirements aligns with our mission to ensure Geniox products are #HygienicByDesign. We believe that if we want to achieve an improved hygienic standard in our workplaces, schools, hotels, universities and the like, then we need to raise the bar for the standard air handling unit. With our Geniox range, higher indoor air quality is not only reserved for the healthcare sector.”
Independent audits are also performed annually by Eurovent Certita Certifi cation (ECC) as an accredited third-party. This means that ECC auditors inspect each Geniox factory, which ensures that the factory and products are meeting the desired quality level in line with the certifi cation programme requirements. ECC also audits the selection software of the certifi ed manufacturers annually, in this case SystemairCAD, which ensures that units that are confi gured really meet the requirements defi ned in the HAHU certifi cation.

Honeywell
Honeywell has announced that Danfoss, a global provider of refrigeration solutions, will incorporate Honeywell’s proprietary Smart Refrigeration Solution (SRS) into its cloud-based platform. The SRS system, which uses thermodynamic and refrigeration-based algorithms to review and analyze commercial refrigeration data, will provide Danfoss customers with a solution that will enable energy savings, and improved refrigeration system performance. Using predictive and preventative analytics, the SRS system recommends specific adjustments for the customer to save money by reducing energy spend, and avoiding unplanned maintenance while improving case performance. The system was developed by Honeywell whose environmentally preferable solutions include Solstice N40, the world’s most widely adopted, LGWP replacement refrigerant for R-404A in the supermarket industry, with more than 30,000 installations in supermarkets globally. Danfoss will incorporate the SRS system into its newly launched Alsense IoT platform, which provides food retail professionals with intuitive software tools and data-driven, expert-enabled insights to optimize operational efficiency, refrigeration asset performance, and energy efficiency.

Barkell
UK based AHU specialists Barkell has extended its range of Therm X MVHR units with two large capacity models, to accommodate the increasing demand for packaged heat recovery units. The two new models complete the existing HR85 range, and bring the maximum air volume of the range to 2.33 m3.s-1 @ 200 Pa. The larger and more powerful HR85 900 and HR85 12k are delivered in sections to minimise any transportation and access issues and come with quick-fi t mechanical and electrical connectors for ease of installation.
Along with the addition of these two new models Barkell has expanded the rotor options for the full HR85 range to include a high effi ciency and a sorption rotor option. The high effi ciency rotor is an improved version of the standard aluminium rotor and can achieve up to 85% heat recovery effi ciency at typical operation conditions ,versus the 75% from the standard rotor. It is manufactured with a denser fi n spacing, in order to increase the heat transfer area and achieve higher heat recovery effi ciencies.
