ne of the big positives to have emerged from the chaos of 2020 is the government’s reinvigorated commitment to environmentally- focussed goals and achieving net-zero
carbon emissions by 2050. As a historical global trail blazer in industry, the UK is best placed to demonstrate how to achieve environmental sustainability – and as a leader in creating the industrial revolution, one could say that it’s our moral duty to be a leader into the eco-evolution.
In our sector we are all too familiar with the drive to develop more environmentally friendly refrigerant gases, manufacture more energy saving products and design increasingly energy effi cient systems. Now that we’ve left the EU, that isn’t going to change.
In order to do business with the EU, the UK will have to be at least the same level as the EU, which means that legislation such as GB F-Gas will have to be in line with – or better – than EU F-Gas.
Whether your values are based in morality, pride or economics, there’s no getting away from the fact that the environment is going to remain at the core of business for decades to come.
