Condair

Condair is presenting a webinar on how commercial freezer store managers can prevent ice by lowering air humidity with dehumidification. By proactively removing the moisture from the air inside the freezer or ante-room, ice will not form on walls, ceilings and floors near entrances, and the need to defrost chiller plant is significantly reduced. This hugely improves productivity and provides a more efficient and safer working environment.

The webinar is free to attend, is taking place on 23 February 2023 at 2pm (UK time) and will be presented by Dave Marshall-George, sales director at humidity control specialist, Condair.

In the 45 minute session, Mr Marshall-George will be

explaining the benefits of using dehumidifiers in freezer stores, the different strategies available for doing so, and the energy considerations for both running the dehumidifier and how overall freezer store energy consumption can be reduced.

Mr Marshall-George commented: “It’s impossible to stop moisture entering a freezer store, but by lowering the air humidity with dehumidifiers and removing the water before it freezes, operations can be greatly improved. Ice on floors presents a slip hazard. Ice on walls and ceilings can obstruct signage or lights, interfere with mechanisms or simply detach and fall on to people. Mist is also reduced at lower humidity, improving visibility. Beyond these obvious benefits, chiller plant runs

more efficiently in drier air, directly saving energy, and will need much less defrosting. This improves the uptime of the system, temperature control of the store and further reduces energy consumption used for defrosting.

“In this forthcoming webinar, I will be explaining how

freezer store managers can integrate dehumidifiers, either in the store itself, in an ante-room or outside the store. I’ll also be reviewing the technology and the energy consumption vs possible savings, so managers can make an informed decision on their own facility,” Mr Marshall-George concluded.

Swegon is bringing together all the group’s room unit brands of Waterloo, NACO and Air Diffusion under one brand identity ‘Waterloo by Swegon’ to reflect its position as the UK’s largest manufacturer of air terminal devices. Since the acquisition of Waterloo in 2020, the HVAC group have been working on full integration and settling the combined business into the new ‘Vantage Point’ factory in Kent. This is consistent with the Swegon group’s philosophy of investing in local manufacturing to service its key markets and strengthening well-known brands under the group umbrella while also bringing in expertise and innovations from across global operations. The Waterloo by Swegon range will provide the product width, flexibility and choice that meets the specific needs of the UK market. To support this there will be further investment in technical innovation, sustainability, and digitalisation initiatives. Daniel Jones, UK&I room unit product manager, said: “Our customers will have access to more great products, but with added benefits like Environmental Product Declarations, BIM and cloud selection tools designed to make their lives easier.” Andrew Collard, UK&I business unit director, added: “The

new brand is an opportunity for our customers to benefit from our extensive technical expertise and the product selection flexibility afforded by such a wide range. The consolidation of Swegon’s room unit product portfolio is a natural fit and creates exciting opportunities for the business and our customers.”
