Martin Smith appointed a key role in Conex Bänninger


M


artin Smith has been appointed Business Unit Director – UK & Ireland by


Conex Bänninger, the global manufacturer of high-quality fi ttings, valves and accessories. Smith has joined from Trifl ow, a company within the IBP Group, where he held the position of national sales manager. His industry experience includes leadership roles with Ideal Stelrad Group, Wolseley and Triton Showers.


Commenting on his new role, Smith said: “Throughout my career, I’ve been


involved in sales development for key brands, establishing demand at the merchant trade counter and I’m looking forward to continuing in that vein. “Creating an environment that


encourages more plumbing, heating, air conditioning and refrigeration installers to move towards press fi tting will be a key part of our team strategy moving forward. “There are numerous technical, safety and fi nancial benefi ts associated with investing in press and we’ll be doing all we can to illustrate those.”


The Commissioning Specialists Association creates CEO role T


he Commissioning Specialists Association (CSA) has created a Chief Executive Offi cer (CEO)


position as a strategic step towards enhancing its operational eff ectiveness and addressing the increasing demands within the commissioning industry. This development is part of the organisation’s ongoing commitment to advancing the commissioning function and ensuring the delivery of fi rst-class buildings. The CSA has made signifi cant


progress over recent years in raising awareness about the critical role of commissioning in the construction sector. However, recognising that much work remains, it also appreciates that staffi ng levels need to increase to better manage both current and future projects, as well as the day- to-day operations of the association. After careful consideration, the Management Committee concluded that appointing a senior person to coordinate the eff orts of the


association’s various member-led committees was essential to achieving its overall goals.


The CSA has appointed Neil Burdess


as its new CEO. Burdess brings extensive experience and a deep understanding of the commissioning industry, coupled with proven leadership skills, making him an asset to the team. He previously held the position of associate director at CSA Corporate Member, Banyards, and

having chaired the CSA for the past three years, his vision and dedication have already left a signifi cant mark on the organisation. “We are thrilled to welcome Neil


Burdess to the newly created role of CEO,” said Keith Barker, CSA vice chair. “Neil has had a very positive eff ect on the CSA in his previous roles within our committees and particularly during the last three years as the association’s Chair. Having decided to expand the team to cope with the ever-increasing levels of activities, we were delighted when he threw his hat into the ring. We could not pass up the opportunity to harness his creativity, positivity, and enthusiasm and look forward to his input in bringing our exciting plans to fruition.” Burdess expressed his enthusiasm about joining the CSA in this new capacity, stating: “I look forward to working with the talented team here to drive our vision forward and achieve our ambitious goals.”

heads national distribution sales at Fujitsu

ewis Harrison has been promoted to national distribution sales manager at


Fujitsu General Air Conditioning UK. Harrison joined Fujitsu a year ago as a distribution account manager, having spent the previous three years at Wolseley Climate in branch manager and area sales manager roles. Prior to that, he worked at Aspen Pumps as an account manager. He said: “It’s great to be a part of a company that promotes from within and I am delighted to accept the role. We have some ambitious plans and goals for the next couple of years and I am looking forward to working closely with our distribution partners in the UK & Ireland to achieve these.‘’ Fujitsu General Air Conditioning UK sales director Stuart Eagleton said: “Lewis’s experience of working in distribution (Wolseley) and in the distribution supply chain (Aspen) makes him the perfect candidate to work closely with our distribution partners at a senior and local level in growing Fujitsu’s market share. “In his fi rst year, Lewis has


shown a good understanding of the market and of each of our distribution partners’ route to market, developing and implementing strategies to ensure the continued success of the Fujitsu brand. Lewis’s key objective in his new role is to encourage growth whilst ensuring that the strong relationships with our partners are maintained.’’
