PIPES
Which pipe for which project?
When choosing the correct system for your project, it’s essential to consider a range of factors when selecting the most suitable system for the project at hand. This article from SBS and Aquatechnik looks at the three systems to aid your selection process.
Plastic Piping
Plastic piping become prevalent in the 1960s, especially in domestic installations. The plastic piping system has low corrosion resistance, leading to downward pressure drops and a high resistance to limescale.
In comparison to the other methods, plastic piping is cheaper and easier to install as there is no need for hot works permits. The system performs better under higher water pressure, with better expansion and contraction resistance than copper. There are several diff erent compositions that plastic piping can be made of, including PVC, ABS, PPH and MDPE. Applications for plastic piping include:

Copper piping is the most traditional method used for plumbing systems and has been used for thousands of years. Copper off ers the best corrosion resistance to water compared to other metal systems, where they can release toxins into the water supply.
