peed, flexibility and reliability are synonymouswith PrintronixAuto ID’s thermal print devices, and the company has recently introduced its newT6000printer to themarket. “It enables RFID labels to be printed and coded with a height of only 0.625 inches,” explains Amine Soubai, director of sales and marketing EMEA at Printronix Auto ID. “RFID labels are increasingly being used, for example, in retailing, particularly for premiumvalue items like clothing.” He says that RFID enables retailers to

improve supply chain eficiency,y, by reducing processing time andminimising their
handling errors, and helping themachieve a better ROI through real-time visibility of stock levels. “RFID helps retailers capture data, which additionally enables themto understandmore about buying behaviour so they can formulatemore targeted promotional activity and improve sales. “It is the level of information that can be incorporated into RFID labels that will prove the attraction for optimising the value chain in warehousemanagement as well as in the medical, healthcare, tourism, events,

automotive and production sectors.” When RFID technology was first
introduced, the industry’s initial response was that it did not offer a true payback or viable path forward, he adds. But there has been a resurgence in RFID based on a couple of factors - a reduction in the cost of manufacturing the tags, and tighter
regulatory requirements, particularly in the automotive andmedical sectors, allowing more information to be included on labels. The availability of short-pitch labels
presentsmore application opportunities in retail, on wristbands (in hospitals) and throughmore accurate warehouse inventorymanagement, right down to individual box level.
Research andMarkets published a report in October this year that claims the global market for RFID technologies should reach $38 billion by 2021 from$16.2 billion in 2016 at a compound annual growth of 18.6 per cent. It forecast that the global RFIDmarket for retail applications alone would grow by 40 per cent over the period of 2014-2019. Printronix Auto ID launched the T6000 - a successor to its T4M- at the PPMA show

The T6000 comes with a 3.4-inch colour display and a clearly laid-out control panel that allows simple ope plug-and-print configu
