New faces at Devondale’s Barnstaple branch
H
ot on the heels of Devondale Electrical’s new Bideford branch
launch, the electrical wholesaler has announced a new line up at its Barnstaple outlet. Account Manager Mark Caton has been
promoted to Branch Manager, taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Roundswell Business Park location. At the same time, John Macdonald has joined
the team to replace Mark as Account Manager. He said: “I saw that Devondale was investing in the business with a rebrand and smart new vans, so it seemed a good time to approach them for possible openings.” John’s proactive stance did the trick and he
was offered the position soon after. The two branch apprentices, Jack Farthing and Jack Shortridge, have both been taken on full time. Last year, Jack won a national award for Learning Achievement after being chosen from 700 apprentices across the UK. The fifth member of the Barnstaple team, Steve Holmes, works on the trade counter. The branch is open to both trade customers

Name change for lighting business
name change to Steon Lighting on 1st February 2017. Steon Lighting made the move due to
L
recent technological advances and market forces that have resulted in a dramatic shift in the lighting market. The company says: “With the increased adoption of solid-state light sources, namely LED, traditional lamps have fallen out of favour. As Steon Lighting adapted to this change and diversified into manufacturing LED lighting, the company name, 'Lamps & Lighting', became increasingly misleading and was at risk of becoming outdated.” Steon has been the name of Lamps & Lighting’s most prolific brand for over a decade therefore rebranding to Steon Lighting was a natural progression for the company, it says. Steon Lighting reiterates that the only thing that will be changing is its trading name. The company will retain the same corporate identity, registered office, ownership, management staff, products and service.
