Further benefits for AWEBB members announced B
uying group AWEBB has launched a new quarterly, priced magazine, which
will reach a readership of 10,000 customers nationwide via its membership network. AWEBB has operated a central stores
delivering crucial stock, next day, to its members for more than 20 years so it is a natural progression to showcase what’s in store directly to members’ customers, says the group’s CEO, Mark Lambert. The magazine, TRADES Choice, features key
stock from leading manufacturers such as NEST, Hager, MK, Electrium, Dimplex, Ansell and others. Says Lambert: “The publication also offers members the chance to promote their own label ‘ELEX’; a brand supported by many of the
UK leading manufacturers giving the independents added confidence in an ever increasingly competitive world. “One of the main
strengths around this new magazine is that all the stock and pricing has been selected by a team of buyers and managers from within our membership, which ensures the stock is kept relevant, fresh and priced to sell.
Online campaign delivers sub-standard cable message
T
he Approved Cables Initiative (ACI) has developed an online
video campaign to highlight the dangers and problems contractors and installers can face with sub- standard cable. The campaign which recently launched to the cable supply industry has been developed around three themes and will grow into a collection of animated videos. Launching with three messages,
‘Dressed to impress’ tells the viewer that some cables are deliberately under- specified when produced; ‘Speak the right language’ highlights the fact that what’s written on the cable may not be what you buy and ‘Better behaved cable’
spells out that if the purchase doesn’t feel right then it probably isn’t. Peter Smeeth, of the Approved Cables
Initiative said: “With a picture worth 1,000 words – as they say – and one in three in the UK viewing at least one online video a week, a video campaign done well can spread the messages we want to share in a simple and clear format to new and existing audiences.” The videos will be hosted on the ACI’s
website and its YouTube channel and it is hoped that all cable industry associations will share the content with members and followers.
The videos can be watched at:

this year. Hosted by CEF, the electrical products and services supplier, the event will feature leading brands, exclusive offers and information about imminent industry changes. Ahead of The IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition, expected to publish in July 2018, visitors can gain a first insight into how the new edition of BS7671 could affect the way they work and hear from

EF LIVE returns to Birmingham’s NEC Arena on June 8th and 9th
“Brands such as NEST now recognise AWEBB members as official resellers and this is a direct result of the central stores facility.” The team has ensured that nothing is left to chance and has supported the magazine with a new B2B trading platform that provides live stock inventory and instant prices
for all AWEBB members. The magazine will also feature promotions such as the successful
‘Vantastic’ which will be run again this summer. Vantastic is a great opportunity for customers of AWEBB members to win a free signwritten van that has been sponsored by leading electrical suppliers.
